Stacking Your Astro Images
This page contains some simple tutorials to help you get to grips with image stacking.
Stacking is the process used to multiply the data that you have captured through your telescope by layering all the individual images on top of each other to tease out more data and to make post-processing the image easier. The point of stacking is to reduce the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). It increases the signal (The object being imaged) and reduces the unwanted noise that all cameras produce (hot, cold, dead pixels, thermal & manufacturing noise). It can also remove those pesky satellite and plane trails.
