Transferring files off your Dwarf III telescope
This tutorial will show you how to transfer files from your Dwarf 3 telescope for further processing or for posting to social media etc.......
There are a few ways to get your images off of your Dwarf 3 and these are explained below.
01) The first method is the easiest. Once a stack has completed it will automatically save the stack to the sessions save folder on the device.
It saves a .jpg .png and .tiff file. You can view the .jpg file via the Album tab from the homescreen of the Dwarf app, and you can click the download button to save the image to your phone/tablet.
If you wish to save the .png or .tiff stacked image then you will need to connect to your Dwarf 3 to retrieve these files via one of the two methods below.
02) Direct cable connection.
If your phone/tablet is OTG (On The Go) compatible or you have a PC/laptop, then you will be able to connect the Dwarf 3 directly to your phone/tablet/PC/laptop via a normal USB-C cable, and it will show up as a hard drive.
Just use a file explorer app or your computers native file explorer to look at, copy & paste or delete the files on the Dwarf 3 as you would with any other hard drive.
03) Direct connection using WiFi.
This method requires connecting directly to the Dwarf 3's WiFi and this is slightly different depending on whether you are on Windows or Mac.
Both methods require STA mode to be SWITCHED OFF, and "Activate WiFi at Startup" TURNED ON in the Dwarf app before trying to connect.
For windows - go to your wifi settings and search for your Dwarf 3's WiFi name in the list and click connect. It will ask you to enter the Dwarf 3's WiFi password.
When the connection is established, open Windows File Explorer and in the address bar type the following and press enter to access the internal files on the Dwarf 3:-
ftp://192.168.88.1
For Mac - Open "Finder" and click "Go". Look for "Connect To Server" and click it.
In the address bar enter the following and then click "Connect" and then Connect as "Guest". Click the connect button and you can access the drive.
If you have any images that have been processed in Stellar Studio or Pano Weave then these can be downloaded directly to your phone/tablet directly once processed.
Please find the download process for these in the Stellar Studio tutorial by clicking here.
