Meet the new Dwarf Draco smart telescope!!!
This telescope is probably the most exciting thing to happen in astronomy for decades!!!
DRACO IS A GAME CHANGER and the DwarfLab team have done one hell of a job!! They put all of their knowhow and passion into everything that they do, and this certainly shows in the Draco.
The Draco smart telescope boasts:-
• 90mm aperture
• 1/1.3-Inch Sensor
• 1200mm Equivalent Focal Length
• 50MP Resolution
• 2x2 Pixel Binning
• Ethernet ready
• USB-3.0
• Dark filter (both versions)
• Astro filter (both versions)
• Duo-band filter (both versions)
There are two versions available to purchase, the standard which includes the above, and the SHO version that also includes additional inbuilt narrowband filters for true Hubble style imaging.
The biggest and most game changing feature of the Draco is the rotating sensor.
The sensor rotates within the telescope arm, this totally eliminates the need to polar align the telescope in EQ mode as it counteracts the effects of field rotation in Alt-Az mode.
This innovation puts the Draco in a league of its own.
Because the sensor can rotate, this means that the Draco can capture exposure lenghts of up to a massive 300 seconds in Alt-Az mode. Thats right.....5 whole minutes as a single exposure.
300 Second exposures are by far the longest that can be taken by any smart telescope on the market. Coupled with the fact that you dont even need to be in EQ mode to get this exposure length is absolutely mind blowing.
This is achieved by the rotating sensor. Without a rotating sensor, the picture would suffer from field rotation. The Draco totally eliminates field rotation by rotatin the sensor as it tracks a target across the sky, which brings me nicely on to the next new feature that is exclusive to the Dwarf Draco:-
Inbuilt guiding.
This is yet another feature exclusive to the Draco. Guiding is a major part of all astrophotography setups and it keeps the target centred in the frame. This feature haas been missing from all past smart telescopes as they use plate solving AFTER each image has been acquired in order to correct any deviations.
Draco, with its build in guiding system will guide live during the entire session, even while images are being captured. This ensures that the nebula or galaxy you are imaging stays dead centre throughout the entire imaging session giving you crisp, clear images.
The features keep coming thick & fast. Next we move on to sensor cooling.
Draco comes with an inbuilt TEC cooling system. This cools the sensor which reduces thermal noise in long exposures. This makes processing the stacked image much easier.
The team at DwarfLabs have further optimised this system with a fan to reuse the old heat that the cooling system produces, as a means to stop the front lens from fogging up on those cold or damp evenings.
It does this by pushing the expelled hot air across the front lens, keeping it clear of dew and fog. Genius!!!
Going back to the sensor rotation, you can now also frame your images in either landscape, portrate, or any where inbetween.
With any locked sensore oriientaion, it is sometimes impossible to frame certain targets throughout the year because the sensor cannot rotate to fit the target...not anymore.
Landscape, portrate, any orientation you wish is now possible thanks to the DwarfLabs team and Draco smart telescope.
Finally, I will bring this to a close with the last amazing feature of the Draco, PhotonLink.
With PhotonLink you are no longer confined to your garden. You can place Draco anywhere in the world, and as long as you have an internet connection at both locations then you can control it as if it were a few feet away.
Free your boundaries!!!
